I got home from work pretty late today and thus dinner tonight is the ultimate ‘fast food’ that still tries to keep its healthy edge: pizza and a salad. What else, right?

For pizza, if you are passing by a FreshSlice Pizza (if you live in BC, of course) you can always stop in for a slice! They make their pizzas with multigrain crusts and low-fat cheese and I promise they are still delish.

However, if you want to go the even cheaper and even easier route? Stock up on frozen pizzas like we do so that you always have one to bung in the oven if you need dinner in a flash. I’ve blogged about Amy’s products before and they have a great range of pizzas, including gluten-free and vegan ones for those of you following stricter diets (for that post click here). Another product I like though is Dr. Oetker’s Ristorante pizzas. These are thin-crust, so relatively low in fat and not as carby or heavy feeling as those thick crust deep dish pizzas you can find. As you can see from the link, Dr. Oetker makes quite a few different varieties (I like talking about him as if he’s a person – I’ve imagined Betty Crocker and Aunt Jemima like that my whole life too so it’s a habit that doesn’t look like it’s going to die anytime soon – clever marketing, people!). There are some with meat but there are also a number of veggie options. Pizza Spinaci, Pizza Vegetale, Pizza Funghi, Pizza Mozzarella, Pizza Formaggi et Pomodori and Pizza Quatro Formaggi are their vegetarian varieties – way more than the two meat options they offer!
